Message from the President | Print |  E-mail

Dear Members, Friends and well-wishers of RMFN!!

First of all let me wish you all a very happy new year. May this new year bring peace and prosperity in all of our lives. It gives us great pleasure to announce the publication of the RMFN Newsletter. You may know that several years ago, the idea of publishing a newsletter was broached by the then RMFN team. It was even given a name “Sphutan”. However, for one reason or the other, it never came to fruition. We are excited that we have been able to revive this project. This newsletter will be published on a quarterly basis. To keep the cost of publication low, we have decided to only mail electronic versions of the newsletter for now. Maybe in the future, budget permitting,  we could even print hardcopies of the newsletter.

As you may know, publishing a newsletter is a lot of work. Designing, editing, proof-reading and publishing takes months of effort. Needless to say, a team of people need to be constantly working on this in order to publish this every three months. If you would like to be a part of this dynamic team of people and have creative ideas to make this better, please feel free to contact RMFN Vice President, Kripa Shrestha at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Similarly, if you have articles that you would like to share with the community, please feel free to send it to her.

Several months have passed since we have taken over the reigns of RMFN. We have been really busy with putting together various programs for promoting our art and culture. At the

same time we have also been engaged in philanthropic activities. Recently, we also filed the application for gaining 501.c3 tax-exempt, non-profit status for our organization. We expect to hear back from the IRS within the next couple of months.

So far, the attendance in all the RMFN programs have been very encouraging. I expect similar kind of support and encouragement from all of you going forward as well. Please let us know, if you have any ideas or suggestions to make RMFN programs better.

We are going through exciting times and are really busy putting together new programs and activities in place to “connect” our members to RMFN. In that vein we have just started an email list of all our members. This way we will be able to reach to all the members that subscribe to this service in a timely and convenient manner. We encourage you to forward our correspondence to others that may be interested in subscribing to this service of RMFN. Likewise, RMFN website has also received a facelift. Please check it out and let us know your comments and features that you would like to see on the website.

Finally, our organization thrives and succeeds because of volunteers like you. Opportunity for volunteerism are plenty, so please don’t hesitate to drop a line to me or one of the officers of RMFN.

Sincerely,

Neelam Shrestha, President RMFN
